Q. Will I need planning permission ?
A. Its best to check with your local council first, but in general, fitting a turbine is similar to just fitting a satellite dish. Unless you live in a conservation area, or listed property, its unlikely you’ll need planning permission.

LOFT INSULATION - You can lose a lot of heat through your roof. Fitting good loft insulation will make your home significantly warmer, and save you around Ł60 a year!

Most homes have at least some insulation in their loft. But is it working as well as it should? To be effective standard loft insulation needs to be at least 270mm ( 10 inches ) thick. If your loft insulation is quite old, or if you’ve compressed it under boarding, this may make it less effective. However, both these problems are easy to fix.

CAVITY WALL INSULATION is quick, clean and comparatively inexpensive.

It can also save you around Ł130-Ł160 a year on your heating bills, and reduce your household emissions of CO2..

Ventilation and draughts account for around 20% of heat loss in a home that’s not properly insulated. Check for draughts - they’re easy and cheap to fix, and will reduce bills.

BOILERS - If your boiler is more than 15 years old, replacing it with a new condenser boiler could cut your heating bills by up to 1/3. It could also make substantial savings in terms of your household’s carbon dioxide emissions.

Using a high efficiency condensing boiler, with heating controls, could save you between Ł190 and Ł240 every year, and significantly cut your home’s CO2 emissions.
